The Manchester College students' poster designs among winners of Coronation Generation Challenge

Students from the College’s Industry Excellence Academy for Creative & Digital Media took part in a photography and design workshop organised by the Ideas Foundation in April, from which three poster designs were selected by the judges across all entries to be displayed on digital billboards on sites across the UK including Manchester, Liverpool, Ealing, and Glasgow, donated by Clear Channel UK. Yeng Roberts, course leader in Content Creation, Digital Film and Broadcast, said “Our students had an amazing day producing pieces that truly communicated the themes of the Coronation Generation Challenge.

Warm welcome for Bermuda visitors

And as British Overseas Territory citizens, our students can access college education in England. “Bermuda is 21 miles long and everyone knows everyone. Visits like this to The Manchester College give our students the chance to see that the world is a lot bigger than just Bermuda. It’s great that The Manchester College have designed this tour and workshops, so we get to see the different departments and facilities that are available.

The Manchester College and UCEN Manchester engage students with hate crime awareness campaign

“The funding we received from HEFCE and Manchester City Council also played a key part in enabling us to facilitate these activities over a sustained period of time.” Manchester Gorton MP Afzal Khan visited College students in February to deliver a session alongside youth trainer Ray Douglas. The session covered personal identity in relation to being a young black and minority ethnic (BME) person living in Manchester.

English and Maths - Are they important subjects to have and what programmes are available at college

In September, English and Maths programmes will continue to be offered to 16–19-year-olds at most sites. Please check for up-to-date information on which sites this is offered. Maths and English can also be offered at community hubs such as Manchester Adult Education Service (MAES)  which is run by the City Council.

The Manchester College student selected to exhibit at Prestigious Arts Festival in London

I have nominated students and had them exhibit for the last four years and only the best of the best get through, so it was brilliant that Mary was accepted this year. She worked so hard on her animation, choosing an important issue to highlight in her work and being accepted for the exhibition is a great way to end her time at the College.
