Year 11 Experience Day

The day started with an introduction from the Schools Liaison Team who told the students all about The Manchester College, the study programmes on offer, the state-of-the-art facilities and the amazing experiences students get to take part in every day. Students spent the day taking part in taster sessions, with several different curriculum areas including Hospitality & Catering, Art & Design, Creative & Digital Media and Automotive Studies to choose from.

Platinum win for College readers

The Manchester College recently welcomed bestselling author Adele Parks to St John’s Centre who presented student Sunara Begum with her prize for winning a national prize with the Reading Agency. Deborah Williams, Director of Planning and Performance, said: Gaining the Platinum Award for the second consecutive year is an amazing achievement and reflects the hard work of our Library colleagues to promote reading and improve literacy skills among students.

Unique photography project gains council backing

The council has officially backed the project which allows students unparalleled access to the stars of music, sport, art and business. Students also get to direct each individual photo shoot to capture a series of striking yet intimate shots. The council is also working to involve the College's Visual Arts department in art and cultural events within the city and procure future exhibition space on the project's completion.

Creative students gain exposure in London exhibition.

The song resonates personally with John and he says: “Celebrities have had a big impact on us and society and I wanted to put this across in my work.” John was inspired by the Pop Art styles of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichenstein and this became the basis of his art style. He wanted to include multiple images of Ariana in the comic strip, which were not too photo realistic but still identifiable.

Qualifications

An Access to HE Diploma is a good way to prepare yourself for university-level study if you’re over 19 and have been out of education. They’re at an equivalent level to A levels. A Bachelor of Arts (BA) qualification is a university-level degree in arts, humanities and social sciences subjects, equivalent to a Level 6 qualification.
