This short course has been designed specifically to help taxi drivers learn all aspects of the Manchester Hackney Carriage or Private Hire knowledge test set by Manchester City Council. If you’re applying for a taxi licence and need help, this is the course for you.
You’ll study one day a week for 12 weeks with us at The Manchester College, learning all about legislation bylaws, safeguarding and the highway code. You’ll focus on how to plan routes effectively and how to use an A-Z map, before covering the locations of all categories within the knowledge book.
This will give you a wide understanding of Manchester landmarks and ensure you have the knowledge to pass the theory-based parts of your taxi driver licence application.
The only qualifications you need for this Level 2 Taxi Knowledge course are bksb Functional Skills in both English and Maths at Entry 3 Level.
How will I be assessed?
Throughout the short course you’ll be assessed by Q&A sessions and then a workbook test at the end of the programme.
Continuing Your Journey
After completing this course, you’ll have the necessary understanding to pass the knowledge tests on the Manchester City Council taxi application. If you want to further your skills and expertise as a taxi driver, you could advance onto the NVQ Level 2 in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving here at The Manchester College.Careers page
