Two students from The Manchester College’s Industry Excellence Academy for Hospitality and Catering have made it through to the finals of a prestigious patisserie competition. Taylor-Jade Frendo, a Level 3 Technical Patisserie student and Annie Carter, who is on the Level 2 course, are through to the final eight of The Chef’s Forum Young Pastry Chef of the Year competition, seeing off hundreds of entrants across two previous rounds.

Famous faces feature in student photography exhibition

Over 30 movers and shakers who have influenced Manchester life and made a cultural difference to the city have been photographed for the ‘Greater Mancunians’ exhibition by 30 Level 3 Photography students from the College’s Northenden campus. The ongoing project has been a year in the making, with students gaining unparalleled access to stars of music, sport, art and business, and directing each individual photo shoot to capture a series of striking yet intimate shots.

Willmott Dixon and The Manchester College partner up to invest in the future of Manchester

Their classroom-based learning will feature bespoke, relevant modules, co-developed and co-delivered by Willmott Dixon, to help fill skills gaps in the industry, alongside additional workshops specifically focussed on helping the students’ personal development and life skills. Upon completion of the course, the students will gain a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Construction and Built Environment, an industry and university-recognised qualification equivalent to three A Levels.
