The Manchester College is joining forces with its industry partners in its Centre of Excellence for Visual Arts to bring a new art festival to Manchester in 2022 and is looking to commission budding, local, contemporary artists to work within educational settings to co-create content for the event.

Students from The Manchester College set to compete in WorldSkills UK National Finals

Thanks to their exceptional performances during each stage, they will join 18 other finalists from colleges in Greater Manchester at the National Finals, which will take place at venues across the region from Tuesday 19 to Friday 22 November 2024. Michael Ward, Level 2 Hairdressing “I thought I knew a lot already about hairdressing but at The Manchester College, I’ve learned how to cut properly and to blow dry to a professional level, it’s just been amazing really. I’ve enjoyed learning something new every day and just getting more knowledge. Ultimately, I’d love to work in the film industry but I’m glad I have my hairdressing skills to fall back on.”

Marie Stock awarded MBE for services to education

Animation Students Have ‘Motion Poems’ Screened at Event

Tutor Katy Rushton added: “This project came at the perfect time as I wanted to introduce my new animation first years to working with type. The subject matter of the poems gave the animation students a lot of scope to be creative and visualise how the typography could tell the stories of the poems.
