Altom enters industry and starts dream career after ESOL course

A former student at The Manchester College has thanked his ESOL tutors for helping him to forge his dream career in IT. Altom Hussain, 19, moved to England from Sudan in June 2018 with his English “at around 2%” before he enrolled on an ESOL course at the College’s Shena Simon campus.

Hadia’s India trip made possible thanks to The Manchester College

Born in Khartoum, Sudan and raised in Budapest, Hungary, Hadia moved to England in 2015 with her two children, unable to speak any English. After enrolling on the Pre-Entry ESOL course at our Northenden campus in 2016, Hadia has since completed the Entry One, Entry Two and Entry Three courses and is now on the ESOL Level 1 course.

Anthony Crolla and our students offer their support for The Christie - Former WBA lightweight boxing champion, Anthony Crolla, joined forces with our students to raise almost £2,000 for the research room within The Christie’s new high-energy proton beam therapy centre, which is due for completion in 2018. More than 50 of our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students took part in the 2017 ‘ESOL Football World Cup’ in order to raise funds for The Christie.
