Think of them as your ‘Employability Support Crew’:  Your Employability Support Crew At your place of study, you will regularly see tutors and curriculum staff, but you also have the chance to speak to other people who can provide support, such as Employability & Partnership Coordinators, Placement Officers, Careers advisors and Student Mentors. They can all give you valuable advice and guidance on different aspects of employability, or on improving your skills and abilities. They can also signpost you to where you can get further support, if you need it.

Staff Profile: Meet Julie Steadman

I have always had a keen interest in student support so when a Deputy Campus Manager vacancy came up I decided I would try something different. The Deputy Campus Manager role taught me all about safeguarding and I realised that student support was something I was really passionate about and committed to. As Head of department for Student Experience I manage a team of experience support staff at one of The Manchester College’s busiest campuses, leading on enrichment and overseeing safeguarding and student welfare.

“If someone said to me when I started The Manchester College, that I would be where I am now, graduating university with a Starred First, a Masters and receiving a Scholarship to Harvard University, I wouldn’t have believed it” Come August 2019, Gabriel will be jetting off to America to take part in the Kennedy Scholarship, where he will be affiliated with their English department as ‘special studentship’ and will experience world renowned philosophy, history and language classes. When asked how he managed all of the work while being away from home and balancing a social life, Gabriel stressed the importance of getting “stuck in” with your course department and always feeding your curiosity.

Rachel Curry Appointed The Manchester College New Principal

Rachel has a strong track record in the further education sector, having started her career at the FE Funding Council (FEFC) where she spent 9 years, including leading investigations into underperforming colleges and overseeing the smooth transition from the FEFC to the Learning and Skills Council for all 13 Lancashire colleges. She then moved to Blackburn College, where she progressed to become Deputy Principal.
