Students revisit army veterans’ project to start work on next phase

As part of Be Amazing Manchester Week, construction students boarded the Be Amazing bus and returned to the site in Newton Heath to start work refurbishing the communal outside area. Carpentry and joinery students have built benches and made trellising and bird boxes for the walls.

Class changes due to GCSE exams

Maths GCSE exams will be held on the following dates: Maths Paper 1 – Tuesday 21 May Maths Paper 2 – Thursday 6 June Maths Paper 3 – Tuesday 11 June English GCSE exams will be held on the following dates: English Paper 1 – Tuesday 4 June English Paper 2 – Friday 7 June As a result, there will be no classes at six campuses - Harpurhey, Nicholls, Northenden, Openshaw, Shena Simon, or St John’s - on any of those dates, although the sites will remain open as usual. Students should take note of the changes, and, if sitting a maths or English GCSE, ensure they arrive promptly.

The Manchester College builds industry ties with local Construction Company, Lovell Homes.

Construction and Engineering students at The Manchester College have received generous support from construction company Lovell Homes , who have donated a large supply of timber to the department. The company were working on a project at their St Jerome’s site when they had the idea to donate their spare materials, in order to contribute to the development of future practitioners. Lovell Homes’ driving force is an ongoing commitment to building futures, changing lives and leaving a lasting legacy in every community in which they work.
