I’ll be starting a Fine Art degree in September at Liverpool John Moores University “I came to The Manchester College because I wanted to be more independent with my college choice. The college also had connections with art galleries, it was right in the heart of the city, which was really convenient, and the tutors were great.”

A-Level student Callum finds success in Future Journalist 2018 competition

Callum was announced as a winner during a ceremony hosted at Staffordshire University’s campus, where he was also given a tour of the university’s authentic, state-of-the-art newsroom. He said: “It was a real surprise when I won and I didn’t expect it at all. This time last year I might not have considered even applying for something like this, so the experience has taught me to be more confident in my ability and embrace challenges.”

Hair and Beauty students are a cut above

“The Manchester College has a dispensary where you can get a lot of hairdressing equipment, and airbrushing which costs a lot of money, and all the wigs and the pastiche that you have to use, so they do provide you with quite a lot. My dream is to do celebrity make-up. I also want to work at a salon, and keep progressing.” Michael Ward, Level 2 Hairdressing “I thought I knew a lot already about hairdressing but at The Manchester College, I’ve learned how to cut properly and to blow dry to a professional level, it’s just been amazing really.

Trainee paramedic Jennifer has a licence to save lives

Jennifer, who hopes to work for the North West Ambulance Service once qualified, said: “My friends have been learning to drive for their C1 in either a Ford Sprinter or a Fiat Ducato, so I wasn't expecting such a large vehicle but I appreciate learning to drive in that size as now I know I can push myself to the weight boundaries which is great.
