Shena Simon Campus Honours Armistice Day

The ceremony was organised by library coordinator Phillip Rigby, a former colour sergeant in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers who served in the Iraq war and conflicts in Bosnia and Northern Ireland. Phillip said: Organising this event is important to me because we have to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Every person in this college should know their history. We’ve got a fantastic Performing Arts department at Shena Simon and the students did a great job.

The Manchester College’s Lisa Breakey wins VTCT Educator of the Year

Commenting on her win Lisa talked about her team’s contribution to her receiving the award, saying: “I work as part of a really strong team so being singled out is not me at all, because everything we do, we do as a team." When the VTCT Excellence Awards nominees were announced, Lisa received an outpouring of support from students from her 15 years of teaching.

What is an Animal Management Course?

Jessica’s Right at HOME with the BFI Academy

Jessica Cande said: “It's been an intense experience which has taken over my Wednesday afternoons, entire Saturdays and the whole of a half term holiday. However, the experience has enabled me to gain experience as a film maker and has bettered the standard of my work in college.” Academy participants were also encouraged to undertake a Silver Arts Award, a Level 2 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and demonstrating continued learning as part of their placement.

Level 2 Culinary Skills student Ethan Bates said: “I’m a practical person so this course is great for me.
